Welcome to Shallow Water Sight Fishing with Captain Karl Romboy. If you are looking for a charter to target redfish, snook, sea trout and tarpon, the Charlotte harbor area has them all as well as many other species. Sight fishing is my favorite way to to spend a day fishing, but any day fishing is a good day. So if you just want to bend the rod on whatever is biting, we can do that too. Whether you are an experienced angler or new to fly fishing or light tackle saltwater fishing, you want to target a specific species or just have fun bending the rod, contact me to book your charter and we can make that happen!
I specialize in both fly fishing and light tackle spin gear with artificial lures. My favorite thing to do is cruise the flats and mangrove edges looking for cruising or tailing fish in shallow water. The most common species we target are redfish, snook, trout and tarpon, but sheepshead, jacks and flounder are also common visitors.
I run an 18' Beavertail Mosquito skiff that can accommodate up to 2 anglers. It's a great little skiff that can get into very skinny water and access areas that larger boats can't. It's a comfortable boat to fish from and is very stable for its size.
Charlotte Harbor has an abundance of natural scenery to experience. Migratory birds, dolphin and manatees are frequently seen depending on the season. Crystal-clear flats and mangrove lined shorelines of the backcountry, offer two unique experiences on the water.
Charters start at Eldred's Marina which is minutes from Englewood, Boca Grande and Cape Haze areas and approximately 40-45 minute drive from Venice, Port Charlotte, and Punta Gorda.
